Student Mobility Guide – Incoming

The ways for student mobility available for the incoming undergraduate and graduate students are many. This guide presents the different scenarios and procedures regarding the mobility IN, applicable to students from other institutions who wish to come to UFBA. In the same token, information for students from UFBA, who wish to participate on a mobility program in other institutions, is available on the Student Mobility Guide – OUT.
 
1) Undergraduate Students who come to UFBA.
  • Students from partner universities.
  • apply at AAI-UFBA;
  • plan the curricular components that will be studied in UFBA;
  • wait for the confirmation of acceptance of the study program by UFBA and proceed with the necessary adjustments, in case the original request is not accepted;
  • show up at the AAI, upon the arrival in Salvador, for documentation and student visa verification, as well as enrollment confirmation;
  • inform the AAI about the expected date of return to home country;
  • school records will be provided upon the conclusion of the mobility period. The student will be able to receive them directly at UFBA or, in case he/she is not in Brazil anymore, the records will be sent by mail/postal service.
II) Students from universities with no partnership with UFBA.
  • apply together with the AAI-UFBA;
  • plan the curricular components that will be studied at UFBA;
  • wait for the confirmation of acceptance of the study program by UFBA, and proceed with the necessary adjustments, in case the original request is not accepted.
  • show up at the AAI, upon arrival in Salvador, for documentation and student visa verification, and enrollment confirmation;
  • inform the AAI about the expected date of return to home country;
  • school records will be provided upon the conclusion of the mobility period. The student will be able to receive them directly at UFBA or, in case he/she is not in Brazil anymore, the records will be sent by mail/postal service
III) Students on the PEC-G program.
  • Apply at the Brazilian Embassy in the home country;
  • wait for confirmation of acceptance on the program with indication of UFBA as the institution where the program will take place;
  • show up at PROAE, after arrival in Salvador, for the verification of documentation, student visa, etc;
  • show up at the Course Collegiate for enrollment;
  • show up at the AAI, for registration.
2) Post-graduate students who come to UFBA.
  • Students for a sandwich program
  • once enrolled in a graduate course at an institution abroad, the student contacts with the supervisor at UFBA, with or without intervention of the course collegiate to discuss issues like equivalence between the programs, term and workload expected for the course, theme of the dissertation/thesis, period of stay at UFBA and abroad, funding and costs, etc.
  • student submits the project of the sandwich program to be approved by the Course Collegiate, then sends it to PROPG and AAI, for registration;
  • student designs, under the Collegiate’s supervision, the expected activities pertaining to the signed agreement, paying special attention to the compliance with the expected periods of stay abroad and at UFBA, actual enrollment at UFBA, even during the periods of stay abroad.
 
II) Students for double doctorate degree (co-tutelle) programs
  • once enrolled in a post-graduate course in the home country, student contacts with the supervisor at UFBA, with or without intervention of the course collegiate, to discuss issues like equivalence between the programs, term and workload expected for the course, theme of the dissertation/thesis, period of stay at UFBA and abroad, funding and costs, etc;
  • student prepares a joint agreement, in two language versions, being one Portuguese, in accordance with the Resolution 01/2006 of the Câmara de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação da UFBA;
  • student submits the agreement to be approved and signed by the competent authorities in his/her home country;
  • student sends the agreement to be processed at UFBA. The process is started at the Collegiate responsible for the course, which should approve it and then forward it to PROPG and AAI, for verification, registration and the Rector’s signature, returning one copy to the home institution;
  • student designs, under the Collegiate’s supervision, the expected activities pertaining to the signed agreement, paying special attention to the compliance with the expected periods of stay abroad and at UFBA, actual enrollment at UFBA, even during the periods of stay abroad;
  • student submits and defends his/her dissertation/thesis within the time limit, which shall be composed in accordance with the rules of Resolution 01/2006.
  • student informs SUPAC, AAI and CCCONV upon conclusion of the joint agreement program, for registration purposes.
  • students requests two diplomas, one from each one of the institutions.
III) Students from the PEC-PG program
  • apply at the Brazilian Embassy in the home country;
  • wait for the program’s confirmation of acceptance, with indication of UFBA as the institution where the program will be fulfilled;
  • show up at PROPG, upon arrival in Salvador, for verification of documentation, student visa, etc;
  • show up at the corresponding post-graduate program Collegiate for enrollment;
  • show up at the AAI, for registration purposes.
 
IV) Foreign students intending to carry out full post-graduate program at UFBA.
  • apply at the corresponding Graduate program;
  • wait for the result of program’s selection process;
  • show up at the AAI for verification of documentation, student visa, etc;
  • show up at the corresponding post-graduate program Collegiate for enrollment.
